Fortunately, multiple methods are available for changing your Apple ID password. We’ll discuss the complete steps so you can swiftly overcome this inconvenience and continue with your day.
How To Use The Apple ID Account Page To Reset Your Password?
One easy way to do this is to use these instructions to log into your Apple ID account and reset your password.
How To Change The Password On Your Apple ID?
Step 1: After visiting https://appleid.apple.com/, click Forgot Apple ID or Password in the middle of the page. Note: Look for your password first and click to see if it works. It might automatically pre-fill the sign-in screen in a drop-down menu, especially if you check the Remember Me box.
Step 2: After entering your Apple ID, typically the primary email address linked to your account, you’ll be redirected to a new page. You can enter your name and the account’s email address here. After choosing I need to reset my password, click Proceed.
Note: If your account has two-factor authentication enabled, your screen will look different, and you’ll be prompted to validate your phone number (more on that later).
Step 3: You may now select whether to reset your password by email or by providing the answers to a series of security questions. It is totally your choice whatever option you select.
Step 4: If you select the email option, Apple will send instructions to the primary email address you used to start the process, a rescue mail. When you see the Email has been sent page with a big, green checkmark, you will know the email has been sent. Check your spam, junk, and trash folders if you cannot locate the email, or follow the previous instructions to send it again. Before creating a new password, you must verify your birthday and respond to a series of questions if you choose to use security questions.
One of the simplest methods to recover access to your account and make changes is by responding to your security questions in case you ever forget your password. After all, the answers to inquiries such as “Who was your favorite teacher?” may only be known by you or someone who knows you quite well. But what happens if you lose track of your security question answers? Fortunately, if you decide to alter them, it’s also an easy process (though you’ll need your password). This is the method.
Step 1: Enter your Apple ID at iforgot.apple.com.
Step 2: Click Continue after selecting I need to reset my security questions.
Step 3: Click Continue after entering your password.
Step 4: Select three questions from the drop-down choices, then enter the relevant responses. And that’s it!
If You Use Two-Factor Authentication On Your iOS Device
Resetting your password will be even simpler using two-factor authentication on your iOS device. You can reset your password directly from a reliable iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, or the Apple ID account page. Two-factor authentication is different from two-step verification. Don’t worry if you’re unsure if you have any trusted devices; you created trusted devices when you set up two-factor authentication. It will also be necessary to enable passcodes on all iOS devices.
Step 1: Select Password & Security under Settings > [your name].
Step 2: Select “Change Password” from the menu.
Step 3: Your passcode will need to be entered. After that, type in your new password.
If You Utilize The Apple ID Account Page For Two-Factor Authentication
You can also use this technique by visiting the Apple ID account page and completing these four steps.
Step 1: Enter your trusted phone number while configuring two-factor authentication at iforgot.apple.com.
Step 2: Click Continue to send a notification to an iPod, iPad, or iPhone that you trust.
Step 3: Tap Allow after getting the notification on your iOS device.
Step 4: Enter your passcode, reset your password, and follow the instructions given.
Note: The procedure of changing your password becomes slightly more complicated if you cannot set up a new device or do not have access to a trusted one. Although it is not a simple process, it is possible to get past two-factor authentication. The verification process may take a few days before you can change your password.
How To Use Account Recovery To Reset Your Password
If your iOS device is in a different room, you should have no issue utilizing Account Recovery to get your password. If your phone is lost or stolen, this strategy can help. By recovering your account, you can keep it safe against unauthorized access and the possibility of identity theft or misuse of your personal information. This could take a while, depending on how much information you have to offer to verify that you are who you say you are.
Step 1: If you’re following the instructions to reset your password using iForgot or iOS, you’ll probably notice an option to seek account recovery. Choose it.
Step 2: Enter your phone number here so that Apple can contact you when your account is ready for use. Make sure you enter the verification code that Apple will email you to authenticate that phone number and validate your personal data. After completing that, Apple will confirm receipt of your account recovery request and notify you to expect a call or text about your account.
Step 3: This step involves some waiting; it’s difficult to predict when you’ll hear from Apple, but they’ll call or text you when your account is prepared.
Step 4: Go to iforgot.apple.com. Enter your phone number and Apple ID into the system, just like in step two.
Step 5: A second call or text containing a unique account recovery code will be placed on you. Return to the iForgot webpage and enter that code there.
Step 6: To complete changing your password, click Continue. To further strengthen the security of your account, we advise logging in and verifying your reliable phone number.
You must log into your Apple account as soon as you have a new password, regardless of how you reset it. To ensure that you won’t be locked out of your devices for too long, you may verify from there that the password has been changed on each one using the Settings menu. By going over everything again, you ensure that you have consistent access to your Apple account.
